The problem with censorship is that if you censor someone even if the cause is believed to be "legitimate" all you usually do is make them believe whatever you censor them for harder

@shibao Restic seems like one of those things that looks insane to configure but once you set it up the first time you'd never touch it because it'd all just work (like a lot of backup solutions lol)

@prettygood $8/mo/TB isn't bad plus rsync.net seems to be run by people that know and actually like what they're doing

This feels like a good place to ask, what backup solutions (especially for offsite) do you all use? I'm mainly looking for something compatible with S3 because I'm probably looking into Backblaze B2 as the storage medium
I've messed with rclone before a little but otherwise I basically know nothing lol

@bajax If I told you they were worn by a 40+ year old man who happens to be in charge of one of the most powerful intelligence agencies in the world without a hint of irony would you change your mind

@benis_redux Nothing on that drive was worth backing up and should be fairly trivial to re-obtain (all of the configs are on a different drive), maybe now that I have money and feel like messing with things I should probably just make the future media drives RAID 1

Always fun when a hard drive suddenly refuses to mount and spits all sorts of I/O errors despite having 0 SMART issues, good thing the only stuff on it is my media collection that should all be pretty trivial to re-obtain if it is indeed dead (which it most likely is)

I know Discord is in the maximum Enshittification category of a convenience monopoly but I still hope it goes the way of Skype
I doubt it will because convenience is the only thing people that aren't insane care about

@icst I hate having to sign in to do anything but also the servers I run get bombarded by scrapers so it unfortunately makes sense why it happens
