I like when I receive random messages from phone numbers I have never seen before, most recently a simple "Whore"

@john_darksoul @blockbot @theorytoe Probably not? Worst case scenario it doesn't compile and the instance doesn't start when you restart it. I don't think those lines touch the database whatsoever though I could be very wrong

@RustyCrab @butterdog the Vscode extension offers having connections to ollama and other local things but it's in "preview" and barely functions
I used continue.dev and it's pretty ok but a pain to configure

@john_darksoul @blockbot @theorytoe correct, if you're running from source. If not, you're on your own

@RustyCrab @butterdog I was writing rust and one started spitting out python it was funny honestly watching it fail so miserably

Though IMO it's because the local-only tooling is shit. No, GitHub, I will not pay for Copilot just let me use the 750 dollar GPU I have

@butterdog gpt-oss-20b fits in my 16GB GPU and while it's obviously not going to beat some gigantic model running on a 6 figure GPU in a data centre it did what I wanted pretty ok

@Junes sorry pal that sounds like communism to me (that has existed as a concept for years as UBI, universal basic income)

@Junes they used to be literal stamps like what they did during WW2 rationing, the programme has another name now (because the original has the negative connotations attached to it from 80s conservatives) but no one calls it that

I tried "vibe coding" something today. I took an already existing project and asked a model running exclusively on my GPU to take an existing codebase and squeeze performance out of it. After it flailed about a couple times, I told it to do something specific and it actually did what it was supposed to do. The last time I tried running something locally it failed miserably at anything beyond autocomplete, so the progress is cool.
