@cassidyclown @RustyCrab @collappsar @mrsaturday that would require google to put effort into making youtube a better product which as a monopoly it has no reason to do since it has no competition in the long form video space, though your idea is pretty solid

Kind of nuts how the reaction to being empathetic about everything is leading to the extremely antisocial reaction of empathising about nothing and treating empathy as a weakness
Interesting how that happened

@mint the funny thing is Hetzner used to take them seriously now they just go "here's what we legally have to send you" they even say "don't bother sending a response" I think the BSI just annoys them with every little thing possible because I guess they have nothing better to do

@bajax open DNS resolvers are massive abuse vectors, since UDP is stateless you can just fake the origin of a DNS request and bombard anyone you want with nonsense responses. It's called reflection or amplification and it's a common DDOS vector

Hetzner emails me almost once a week about the German authorities complaining about my open DNS resolver. It's just really annoying

@fwc @benis_redux @wertimer @i @mint Depends on your use case?
Gaming? Absolutely, the 9070 XT is basically a 5070 Ti but cheaper (if either are available for MSRP yet)
GPGPU? If whatever you're using supports ROCm, it's probably fine for normal use cases. Otherwise many things (like most ML/AI stuff) are still exclusively CUDA.

No idea about the more middle range stuff

@mint @benis_redux @wertimer @i some 4060 Tis, Nvidia sold 8 GB 4060 Tis because they love product segmentation
The 6070 will probably still have 8-12 GB of VRAM in the era where 16 is barely enough (t. has 16 GB GPU) because Nvidia just does not care since all of their money is in the data centre

@benis_redux The funny thing is the best EVs are in China because China actually cared about them beyond wanking about the environment but they're illegal to bring into countries like the US.

IMO the concept is fine it's held back by battery technology that sucks. Lithium-Ion batteries are better than what came before but they're still degrading bombs that lose a third of their capacity when cold. Nothing about how the actual solution to pollution caused by EVs is having fewer cars full stop needed here
