The paragraph before the screenshot mentions another pretty common "climate doomer" [someone who thinks climate change is an apocalyptic event] talking point where refugees from the "global south" (they mean black people from Africa and South Americans usually) come to the "global north" (they mean Europe and North America specifically usually) which if the climate did ever get that bad is possibly true but it's kind of surprising he just misses the economic sized hole in his argument that he himself makes earlier about a tech workers union (that will never happen because the US and most other Anglo countries except maybe Australia have been mind raped to see unions as wholly evil).

I feel like I'm ranting myself about this when it doesn't matter but I have this week off so it's either this, Oblivion or watching more episodes of the Apothecary Diaries

@nuko I've never understood the leftist "fascism is capitalism in decay" bit you can criticise actual doctrinal fascism for many things but calling it "capitalist" just seems so reductive that it makes whatever else you criticise also look shallow.

@bajax @RustyCrab Imo a lot of issues with passwords would be resolved if we normalized password managers like 20 years ago and also got rid of stupid "security practices" like password rotation
Mandatory 2fa helps with stupid passwords because if the password is easy to guess as long as the 2fa isn't compromised you're still fine-ish

People will always fall for scams because it's very easy to get manipulated by someone who is charismatic and tells you exactly what you want to hear. Even if you tell them that anything involving cryptocurrency is 100% a scam (which is honestly not far off from the truth) if someone tells them this is a totally legitimate thing and tricks them especially when they're emotionally easy to trick they're still going to fall for it. It's hard to prevent human nature but people try (and fail)

Even overcoming the "us and them" it's hard to be objective on anything other than the weather or the results of a sport competition or election because language itself usually carries connotations (the classic terrorist/freedom fighter comes to mind along with the more modern rioter/protester) that are difficult to overcome
