As I look back upon my life today, having lived over two decades, having lived through nearly one-third of my life, there is nothing that I'm proud of. I got through high school. I'll get through college. I'll check this box; get this diploma. I'll walk that stage; I'll awkwardly leave afterwards since I don't know anyone who I could take a picture with.

One part of me wants to live the life that I never lived. One part of me wants to fix the problems that troubled me throughout my life. One part of me wants to be "normal," to chase after that ideal that doesn't exist, that wild college experience filled with hookups and heavy drinking. One part of me wants to get experience dealing with people, to compensate for my childhood neglect. This part of me tells me to get a job, tells me to be outgoing, to strike up conversations whenever I can. You only have one year left. Make the most of it. The other part of me tells me to just get through it. It tells me that I'll never truly be "normal," that I just have to decide between getting the diploma or living in financial serfdom.

Over the years, I have become sympathetic to the idea that my life can be "fixed," and I've attempted to fix it many times. I tried going to church but I was never able to convince myself that God exists. I wanted to believe, but forcing myself to go to church events as an atheist brought me no fulfillment. I tried getting a job, but, I realized that no desperate attempt to make up for lost time could save me. I quit after one day. I tried weight lifting. I quit after a year.

I went through the political spectrum. At times, I was very left-wing. At times, I was very right-wing. Nothing I believed or read means anything to me today.

They say that happiness is not worth pursuing, that those who pursue it will end up farther away from it, that we should seek meaning and purpose. They say that you get meaning by taking on responsibility. I should be a stoic. I should just get through university. Get a job. Work hard. Try to find a woman. Start a family. I would have a purpose and I would have a responsibility towards my family. It would drive me, but, I don't know why purpose in life is even necessary.

Does a lion have a purpose? He just lives. What purpose or meaning does he pursue? He pursues what his intuition commands of him. He lives life on autopilot. A human being can live life in the same way, but, he cannot live this way forever. It's pleasant to think that we can just get through life without explicitly laying down our purpose. The problem is that we will eventually have to clearly define our purpose at one point or another.

Maybe living life is like maintaining a machine. The oil that would keep the machine going, in human terms, would be physical exercise, social connection and affirmation, and meaningful work. On its face, this seems plausible. Living life is like maintaining a piece of software that has to continually be rewritten to keep up. This kind of life, where we just drift through, seems empty, but, when I try to consciously decide upon which values in life to pursue, nothing excites me. I told my sister a while back that I'm trying to find what the purpose of life is. She laughed, responding, "You mean you don't have a purpose in your life?"

When I think back to the times when I was most happy in life, I was a child, playing Roblox, building things. I would dream of Roblox. I would think about it during class. It provided me a creative outlet. Maybe others were gaining social experience, dating, going to prom, etc. Roblox was my escape. People would ask what I am up to. I would just say Roblox. They would take it as a joke. They would assume that there was more to life, but, I never saw it.

I can't return to Roblox today as a 23 year old man. Most Roblox players today are in their early teens. The people I used to play with on Roblox as a teen probably grew up, moved on, yet, I am here, like a child - a man-child wishing I was still young.

The preface: I did not get today's set of commissions to draw from Josh, so I chose to make a day off out of it, and go to the book store and read and highlight my copy of "Warhol/Chris Chan" some more.

After getting the soda and water, I took a lap around the store as I like to do. Then, looking in the toy aisle where the My Little Pony toys were normally, I saw the sign that I was not looking forward to find. A handful of figures of the magic-less unicorn from G5. Needless to say, I was triggered, but I had known what I was to do in this event.

I literally snapped my fingers, and these particular figures literally phased out of existence from the store. With that in mind, I opted to check Target as well. I found four figures of the orange G5 pony, and I repeated the process with that bunch of figures.
